About Dr. Andrew J. Baker, DVM
Dr. Baker was born in Norwalk, Ohio, but grew up in the southeast. After he moved to Virginia Beach in 2008 he started his internship in Small Animal Medicine and met his wife, Marlene.
He attended high school at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Sciences. During his senior year he was accepted into the Early Entry Program for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University pending his undergraduate attendance. While studying at MSU, he received his Bachelor of Science in Animal and Dairy Science in 2005 and continued his education there to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2008.
Before taking on a permanent position at Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital in May 2010, Dr. Baker worked as a relief veterinarian for VBVH when he was not covering shifts at the emergency hospitals. He is certified for PennHIP and has training in the process of stem cell extraction and implantation for the management of osteoarthritis in animals. He also has a great interest in Small Animal Surgery and plans to continue his research in this field.
Dr. Baker’s wife, Dr. Marlene Pariser, is currently a veterinary dermatology resident. Together they have three cats: Tristin, Siegfried, and Xanadu, as well as a flock of chickens.
